School holidays in NSW are coming to a close and although the bickering and squabbling remains a constant on most days, these holidays have been quite the success. When we started this blog I was coming up to my first semi official school holidays (well my cherubs are only in pre-school hence the semi status ;)) I wrote of daring to think that I was prepared and then all hell broke loose on me. This time has been a pleasant surprise.
You see I flipped it back on the kids, let them make the decisions. I was able to do that as I had practised what we preached and lay-byed our entertainment. It was too easy for the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year and for the bargain price of $7.22 per week (for 20 weeks) was able to lay-by admission to Sydney Aquarium, AMF Bowling and the Movies. Yes folks, you can put a price on sanity because I just did :).
Now our day in town was a great day and once again my cherubs were more excited by the public transport than by seeing sharks or Nemo (am wondering when this novelty will wear off?) but I do wish to comment on the amazingly long line at the Aquarium. It went out the door and down towards the harbour cruise counters.
Was this you in the line these school holidays?
This is where having pre-paid admission and having the tickets in the hot little hands such a bonus IMO. I left the line to wander down to the entrance and discovered an empty separate line for those who had pre-paid tickets. That was us! Half of me felt guilty when I walked back to the spot where I’d left my mother and her grandchildren and said yep, we’re in the wrong line c’mon lets go! Minutes later we were in. It was great. A small feature of our business that until you have line ups like that, you forget that it’s a perk to have pre-paid and avoid it.
So next time you’re in a long line at one of Australia’s many attractions waiting to get in, take a moment to glance over at the small pre-paid line. They may be a customer of ours
